How to choose the belt material of mobile belt conveyor for grain

When choosing the belt material of mobile belt conveyor for grain, you need to consider multiple factors.

1. Wear resistance
Grains will constantly rub against the belt during transportation, so the wear resistance of the belt is crucial. Rubber material is a common wear-resistant choice, especially synthetic rubber. For example, nitrile rubber is not only wear-resistant, but also resistant to certain grease and chemical corrosion. If the conveyor works in an environment where it may be exposed to grease, such as a grain processing workshop, nitrile rubber belts are a more ideal choice. For some occasions with large conveying volume and high work intensity, such as grain loading and unloading in large ports, polyurethane (PU) belts are more suitable. PU material has excellent wear resistance and high strength, and can withstand the wear caused by large-volume and long-distance transportation.

2. Elasticity
Good elasticity allows the belt to better fit the drive roller and ensure the stability of power transmission. Natural rubber performs well in this regard. Its elasticity can reduce the bumps of grain during transportation and reduce the risk of grain breakage. For smaller, relatively fragile grains like millet and rice, this elastic belt can gently convey and maintain the integrity of the grain.

3. Corrosion resistance
In some environments, the belt may come into contact with water, acid, alkali and other substances. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) belts are more affordable and have a certain degree of corrosion resistance, suitable for ordinary warehouses or small farms without extreme chemical environments. If the working environment is more complex, such as in grain processing companies that may be exposed to corrosive chemicals, nitrile rubber or PU belts with good corrosion resistance will be a better choice.

4. Cost
PVC belts are relatively cheap and are a good choice for scenes with limited budgets and not particularly high conveying requirements. Rubber and PU belts may be more expensive, but they are often superior in performance and are suitable for long-term, large-scale operations that require high conveyor performance.
